Course Description:

A review of polynomials, exponents, and radicals; solutions to equations and inequalities in one and two variables. Topics covered include exponential, logarithmic, and quadratic functions; roots of polynomials; graphs of various functions and conic sections; solutions of systems of linear equations.

Prerequisites: Grade of "C" or better in MAT120 or satisfactory score on District placement exam.

Materials: graphing calculator (TI-83 or TI-84) highly recommended,
     college ruled loose-leaf paper, pen, pencil, highlighter

Classroom Procedures/Grading

Grades:  Students... go to http://www.engrade.com/students, enter your Access Code(s), (your ID number ) and choose a username/password combination. You can then use your username and password to log in anytime and see your up-to-the-minute classroom information on Engrade.

       

Your final grade will be calculated as follows:

1. Written exams will represent 60% of the final course grade

2. Final exam will represent  20 % of the final course grade.

3. The EAC Post Test will be embedded in the final exam

     and will represent at least 10% of the final grade.

4. Quizzes will be 10% of the final grade.

5. Homework will be 10% of the final grade.

 

Grading Scale

A  90%-100%

B  80%-89%

C  70%-79%

D  60%-69%

F  Below 60%

Study Helps

Always read the sections to be covered before class.

The book offers excellent helps, like bold print and shaded areas.

Always be sure to read captions under the pictures, graphs and tables in the

     margins. These are quite often more helpful than the reading.

Do your work in pencil and grade it in pen. This makes it easier to find

    where you need help when reviewing for tests.
